According to the roughness test, the roughness of ultrasonic vibration-assisted grinding is better than that of conventional grinding, and the increase in amplitude has a significant effect on the improvement of roughness. When the amplitude increases from 3μm to 9μm, the surface roughness is improved about 38.1%.
The surface roughness of Ra and Rz was reduced by 14.5% and 20.6%, respectively, during the UVA-ELID grinding. The surface morphology was dramatically changed with the help of ultrasonic vibration. In a word, for nanocomposite ceramic, the UVA-ELID grinding can significantly improve surface performance and achieve a better machining effect.

Ultrasonic vibration assisted micro end grinding (UAMEG) is a promising processing method for micro parts made of hard and brittle materials. First, the influence of ultrasonic assistance on the mechanism of this processing technology is theoretically analyzed. Then, in order to reveal the effects of ultrasonic vibration and grinding parameters on grinding forces and surface quality, …

The lower surface roughness value (R a: 0.118 µm and R z: 0.671) and uniform surface profile such as smooth tips of peak and valley portion was obtained in the case of ultrasonic vibration assisted dry grinding. This happens due to discontinuous shearing, ploughing, and rubbing action on the ground surface with the help of ultrasonic vibration.
surface finish, tolerances or accuracies. Depending on the circumstances, it should be noted that a machine could be both a source and recipient of unwanted vibration. For example, a surface grinder is generally a vibration-sensitive piece of equipment that needs to be protected from floor vibrations. However, as the surface grinder reverses

In robotic manufacturing, the machining vibration can easily affect the quality of the processed surfaces due to poor stiffness and variable stiffness of the robot arm. It is important to monitor the processing quality. Therefore, an online process monitor method for robotic grinding is proposed in this article. Since the surface quality is difficult to be measured directly online, a …

According to Peter Zelinski with Modern Machine Shop Online: "In a production-grinding operation, waviness on the part surface is a potential clue that the machine or process has developed a vibration problem. The effect might be seen in inspection, or if there is a lapping or polishing step, more time might be spent during that […]
Besides, since the spark out phase is responsible for the workpiece quality, the vibration of the workpiece during this phase is going to be monitored in order to verify whether there is a correlation between it and some workpiece quality parameters like surface roughness and circularity. 4.
